That's a Wrap

Our week was packed with lots of friends and fun. It started with a fierce mini golf competition and picnic with one of our most favorite people, M.O. Sadly, M.O. crushed Dave and I while Bodie entertained himself by trying to eat the golf balls (gross, we know). Then Dave's indoor soccer team had their first game. This too, did not end in victory, but the guys got some good exercise and are looking forward to a solid rebound win this week. I played two tennis matches and fortunately brought home a few wins to the Piantanida house; I'm loving the competition and winning isn't so bad either.

Good company surrounded us all week including James McMullin for dinner and one of Dave's college roommates, Tim Dailey and his son Collin for Sunday brunch. Dave and Tim caught up on old friends while Collin and I played with Bodie. Then like any normal Sunday brunch, we ended with a game of wiffle ball in the backyard.

Bodie wrapped up his last Water Babies swim class on Thursday. We prepared meals for the homeless with the ever-energetic Donna Budway Saturday morning. And had more friends over for dinner Sunday night - whew. No doubt we'll sleep good tonight.

Water Baby

It's true, I love the water. I don't care if it's a bath tub, a lake, a swimming pool - if it splashes, I'm in. So as you can probably guess, we spend a lot of time at the pool.
My parents think the baby pool is too shallow to swim their laps, so they put me on a kick board in the adult pool and kick away. I think it's pretty cool because I feel like the captain of the pool and I can see everyone. The first time my parents did this it caused a bit of a stir. But after a brief chat with the pool manager and a grin from me, we were off again and haven't stopped since. My only complaint is that I wish they would go faster, but oh well.
I had a Water Babies class that just ended. Besides the fun kids I got to swim with, I also learned to go underwater and float (kind of) on my back. And at the last class I got a certificate for being the best splasher - it's good to know talent is appreciated.

"Fair?" no it was Great!

My cousin Francesca had a sleepover at our house this week and we went to the Arlington County Fair. I think that's a funny name to call something so fun, it's way better than fair. With all of those rides and games and junk food it should be called the Arlington County Yahooooooo! I'll write the County about a name change and let you know how that goes.

My dad and Francesca rode on the Super Shot. It goes up really high and then drops really fast as my dad screamed like a 12 year old girl - definitely entertaining for everyone watching. We laughed so hard our sides hurt.

I got to ride on my very first Merry-go-round. Odd concept - sit on a stationary horse while the floor moves the horse around in circles - why doesn't the horse just move? Either way, I loved it.

This is my second fair - first, the Scott County Fair in Kansas, now this one. What's your favorite thing at the fair and why?

Weekend Update

While nothing monumental happened this week, I thought I'd share a few highlights. I had my swimming class earlier in the week. I seriously love it. I splash everyone in the face and can swim under water for about 6-8 feet before I barrel roll to the top. Then Friday my folks played in a golf tournament at Andrews Air Force Base. They said it was really cool to have huge cargo planes fly right over their heads while they were on the course. No one mentioned trophies or victory, so I'm guessing the planes were the highlight of the tournament. I got to hang out with my buddy Joseph and his mom Sarah - those guys are awesome.

Saturday my mom played in her first tennis match in a summer league. By chance, the woman she was playing against had a baby (named Ana) last November also. So when my dad and I arrived to watch my mom, Ana and I got to hang out on the court. My mom won her match and then my dad and Ana's dad jumped on the court for a few games as well. Have my parents ever turned down an opportunity to compete - sheesh.

We wrapped up the weekend with church and mass today followed by a pool date and dinner at Christine's. Our pool date got rained out, so we had fun inside. Christine let me fling Cheerios everywhere and played on the floor with me - does it get any better than that!?!

I'm In a Lybberty Daze

The annual Lybberty Days family reunion was this past week and whew, did I overdo it. For starters, I got my first tooth the day we arrived. Who knew your nose could run so much from one little tooth - sheesh. We started off the trip at my Uncle Rick and Aunt Margo's water ski lakes, Last Chance Lakes (check them out on line at http://www.lastchancelakes.com). My mom and dad skied well but my Grandma and Grandpa really tore it up (that's my Grandpa in the picture - I didn't even know grandparents could do that kind of stuff!)

Thursday my folks played 18 holes while my grandma, my cousin Lindsie, and I went to the zoo; another first for me. There sure are a lot of really cool animals there. I liked the monkey's the best.

Thursday afternoon we headed up to Park City to join the rest of the group - 35 of us this year! I got to meet a few cousins for the first time, including the newest addition to our family...my three month old cousin Brody. Yep, we're Bodie and Brody. Guess we'll have to become a famous doubles duo and play in the US Open, that would be kinda cool.

We hiked to 9000 feet. Okay, so I guess I really free-loaded to 9000 feet in the front pack, but it sure was beautiful. Then on the hike down I think we got a little lost - unless my parents were suppose to climb over huge mounds of dirt and traverse through waist-high shrubbery. Don't worry Nana, I was wearing my sunblock and a goofy hat the whole time.

We had a human rodeo where the dads were the livestock and the kids were the cowboys, then a frisbee golf tournament, and the most intense family scavenger hunt I've ever seen. My mom said the start was more chaotic than the Amazing Race. I'm beginning to think I might have been born in to a competitive family.

While my folks played tennis, I hung out with my Aunt Margo. Then I swam, strolled with Grandma and Grandpa, played with my cousins, and posed for a lot of pictures. From start to finish, it was awesome.
