Sweeeeet 16!

If you follow our blog, you know I love anything about balls - throwing them, catching them, watching others throw and catch them, I take one wherever I go - I even dream about balls. I honestly can't get enough.

So when my dad told me about March Madness, I thought I was in Heaven. Are you kidding me? A month dedicated to throwing basketballs? I immediately started practicing my dribble. Maybe they'd need a sub.

My dad explained the brackets to me, then helped me with my picks. While I didn't really know what I was doing, I used his tips and picked some obvious favorites, a few Cinderella's, and lastly, based my choices on uniform colors. I have Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and BYU in the final four. So far, these teams are still in the hunt. And for the record, I'm currently in third in my dad's office pool - ahead of my dad - not bad for a half pint!

After watching several nail biters, or in my case, finger suckers, I TOTALLY get the madness - these college games have a lot of excitement. I'm lucky if I can dunk from the 1 inch line, Jimmer hits it 5 feet outside the three point line! My biggest challenge is staying awake for the games - these guys sure do have late bed times! I'm hoping to count a few basketballs tonight as I watch the first half of the University of Florida / BYU game before I count sheep!

Maybe you can help me negotiate my bedtime by commenting on this post. Or perhaps they can mount a flat screen above my crib - that's not too eccentric, is it? And who have you picked to win it?
Up next, the elite eight. Go Cougars!

Green

This week's theme was "green." Me and my buddy Dru visited the library which I think is environmentally "green" because we borrowed books rather than purchasing them. I got a bunch of Spot books - but wasn't too impressed - and also a book called Pigs to the Rescue. That one made my parents laugh at the end, but I didn't get the joke, oh well. Hey, I'm always looking for good books, if you have a recommendation, I'd love to hear it!)

Then came St. Patrick's Day. THAT is definitely a green day! My mom made us green eggs and a green smoothie for breakfast, talk about DEEE-licious! I heard you get pinched if you're not wearing green. Let me say, that is just mean. So out of fear, I wore green all day and carried around my green ball - to be doubly safe. What did you do?

And today we spent the whole day in our yard and I worked on my "green" thumb. The city delivered a humongous pile of mulch, we're talking monster truck mound-sized! I supervised the shoveling of the mulch and then insisted upon a ride in the wheel barrow, each time, from the mulch pile to the flower beds. As we traveled throughout the yard, I threw mulch out of the wheel barrow - like I was in a parade! Once the mulch was dumped, I'd hop back in and hitch a ride for the next load. I could definitely get use to this life!

Road Trips

We've been road trippin' the past few weeks.  I went on my first bike road trip and think I loved it. I got to prep the equipment with my dad then put on my shiny new helmet - it's called a "nut case," and has a giant eight on top so I look like an 8 ball head.

Both my mom and dad took turns pulling me - the ride is smoother with my mom, but lots faster with my dad. My mom says she loved when my dad pulled me because it slowed him down, though I still had to turn around to see her sometimes, catch up mom!

Then we took a road trip to Gaithersberg, Maryland to see our friends the Markeys. Okay, so that's not a real road trip, but it still counts.

We played basketball at their house, I drove around in this sweet ride, and then topped it off with a picnic at the park. Thomas, Brendan, ad Daniella showed me around the park and helped me on the swing and slide - I was a little too small for the climbing wall. Those guys are awesome.

Finally we headed to Vermont to visit my aunts, uncle, cousins, nana & pop pop, and welcome my Uncle Nick home from Afghanistan. We had enough time to play and relax.
Sitting in the back of the car in my car seat can get a little boring so my mom sometimes gives me her Blackberry. I'm getting pretty good at accidentally calling people and recently I've figured out how to take pictures. So here's a shot I took during the ride - not too bad, if I do say so myself.
